Unified Generation of Young leaders Collaborates on New Vision and Fosters a lasting Relationship

The challenge for Nepal peace process is to adequately address people’s long-awaited dream for peace and development in an all encompassing manner.

People at the grassroots level, especially young Nepalese, are expecting reason-based knowledge about improvement in security and are concern about good leadership, enfranchisement of citizens, social justice, social cohesion, health and economic activities. The struggle for human rights in Nepal for liberty, entitlements and social opportunities still remains uncompleted. Youth are increasingly questioning about their human rights and the vision of a new Nepal.

As Dr. Hyun Jin Moon, the International Chairman of Global Peace Festival Foundation, said, “The spirituality of our humanity is the well from which our shared aspirations, principles and values flow. However, this resource has not been tapped to establish a recognized global ethic.  Without a shared ethic there can be no global common ground for dialogue, understanding and conflict resolution. Let us work together to realize a world of true peace in which not only human rights are respected, and democratic values are enjoyed, but also material abundance is secured, and spiritual values are fulfilled.”

GPYC-Nepal regard that moral and innovative leadership must be based on these values and reinforce by national harmony.

On April 28-30, GPYC-Nepal organized a 3-day U-Gen seminar. U-Gen which means “Unified Generation” aims to raise a moral and innovative young generation of leaders who will be in front line to build a united Nepal.  The seminar emphasizes understanding and education of mind and heart to advance peace and the unity among groups of young individual from all backgrounds who value human dignity and who hold a common appreciation for all people and their cultures. U-Gen raises the next generation of Nepalese leaders to collaborate on a new vision, learn moral and innovative leadership skills, and foster lasting relationships.

In this seminar, twenty eight students from various academic institutions were able to participate and learn from best practices and strengthened their knowledge and empower them so that they could make contributions to social harmony and to ensure development and peace in their respective communities. Functioning as a team, participants worked to build a harmonious relationship in every activity such as games, group sharing and actual project designing which was presented on the last day of seminar.

According to Ms. Rupa Dangi , a first year Bachelor Student from Jaya Multiple Campus , “I am energized and inspired within this three days , from now on , I am geared up to utilize my time to valuable activities especially to willingly give service to others .”

Likewise, Mr. Asim Ali, a Bachelor in Social work student from St. Xavier International College, shared that accountability counts most in every aspects of life. “ I learned a lot of important knowledge. At this time, I am very sincere to achieve a dignified task and am so happy to be a part of U-gen seminar.”

Above all, participants, who were informed about the role of youth and true leadership, in turn, demonstrate the actuality of hope and compassion.

U-Gen is initiated by GPYC-Kenya to build a global network of young leaders who will lead a peaceful world.
